This work makes for an excellent archival finding aid. It may facilitate the use of the fond of the General Police Superintendent Administration in the Kingdom of Poland, hand-written in Russian, as it includes the transcription of names in Polish. An interesting author's preface introduces readers into the rules of the activity of military investigation and court commissions, characterises categories of prisoners, refers to the legal grounds for judgements, and describes the course of subsequent stages of the exile and the reality of living at the place of final destination. Moreover, the preface includes valuable statistical data on the age and number of prisoners, mostly adolescents.
