The Archive Council is an advisory and expert body which supports the General Director of the State Archives in carrying out his responsibilities.
The Archive Council consists of 15 members, whose efforts are coordinated by the Council Head. Council members are appointed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage upon the request of the General Director of the State Archives, who selects them in consultation with the Association of Polish Archivists.
The status and activities of the Archive Council are regulated by the Act of 14 July 1983 on the national archival holdings and archives, as well as the Charter of the Head Office of the State Archives.
