We completed the expansion and reconstruction of the State Archives headquarters in Katowice, at 104 Józefowska Street, in 2026.

The aim of the project was to facilitate access to cultural resources. As part of the project:

  • we constructed three new buildings:
    • two repositories for archival holdings,
    • a multi-purpose building that will make it possible to supervise and popularise archival holdings and to carry out educational activities,
  • three existing buildings was redeveloped and linked with new connecting corridors.

A space for archival materials and users

The project will:

  • ensure the safe storage of archival materials,
  • create free space for approx. 20,000 linear metres of archival materials,
  • expand the range of educational and popularisation activities carried out by the State Archives,
  • improve the working conditions for archivists,
  • make it possible to conduct training and presentations for the entire archive network as well as for external recipients.

The total net usable area of the new and redeveloped buildings is 13,873.42 m2.
